ecommerce app enhancements

Stakeholders approached the Heady team with a mission to improve their average order value on the app. We decided to investigate personalization through product recommendations - a must-have feature for all ecommerce apps and websites, as they can drive sales, increase conversion rate and average order value.

The brand is kept anonymous since the feature is not released yet.

Initial sketches included a traditional carousel with recommended products based on what the user is viewing. But we wanted to integrate a feature where users would really enjoy using and if i’m being utopian entice the user to go back to the app for that feature. I started researching personalization and what our audience thought of it.

I was really inspired by the Screen Time feature from Apple and the power this feature has given their consumers - ownership over their own data. I wanted to explore how I can do that for an e-commerce app even if it’s recommended products. I also wanted to explore data transparency so I started sketching out different ideas. Trend seemed important for sneaker-heads which are our target audience so why not give users this transparency over what’s trending instead of having them seek other digital platforms.

No boundaries other than point of inception

The ideation session is essential during this stage of the design so we don’t worry about technological or business needs but exclusively on what we think the user wants.
